There is no doubt about it: information is the lifeblood of human relationships, interactions, better customer experience and today’s economy.
The core question is how to capture/gather/manage it, how to turn it into knowledge and how to make it improve the lives of employees and customers, while saving costs and generating revenue.
In its recent research report, “Information Digital Transformation MaturityScape”, research firm IDC is crystal clear: “information is at the core of the new digital ecosystem”. Plain and simple. Yet a challenge for many as unstructured communications and data continue to explode (IoT being the next catalyst) and information resides in silos.
44 trillion gigabytes, waiting to become business and customer value
Unlocking value from information is the journey ahead. IDC estimates that by 2020, the digital universe will reach 44 trillion gigabytes. That is not just huge (a tenfold increase over 2013), it is also the future of your business. Because behind each gigabyte sits a wealth of information waiting to be unlocked and capitalised upon.

Although 2020 is not really THAT far away, IDC states that most organisations today are still at the beginning of their journey to extract value from – the exploding amounts of – information. Time to embrace – as IDC calls it – Information Digital Transformation and effectively use information as “a critical enabler of the digital transformation of enterprises”. The study looks at this information digital transformation or DX in various stages.
Organisations that master a differentiated information value chain gain competitive advantage, IDC says. We couldn’t agree more. Building that competitive advantage starts today.
Capturing and turning information into value and helping organisations to get the core of the new digital ecosystem – information – right is our mission, passion and promise.

Closing the loop of intelligent information: master your information value chain – 4 opportunities
We will keep reaching out to you to fulfil that promise. This month alone we have 4 initiatives to make it happen.
The diversity of data – moving to intelligent capture
On Wednesday June 17th, you can learn everything about the first – and evolving – stage in the information process: capture. In a webinar you’ll learn more specifically about distributed capture and get an introduction to Capture 2.0, the new capture for the digital and Big Data age. To quote co-presenter and globally acclaimed Capture 2.0 expert Harvey Spencer: with ever increasing incoming electronic data diversity to manage, capture has to become ever more intelligent.
Connect the data – solving the mobile and fragmented challenge
On Wednesday June 24th, we take it a step further: acquiring information across various channels has been sitting in silos for all too long. To unlock the value from captured data and information acquired from various channels, a connected approach is required. In a second webinar we’ll help you in setting up the best approach for your company and needs and look at the evolutions and solutions in a web-based environment.
Transform your information management processes
Also on Wednesday June 24th we’ll report from the AIIM Forum UK 2015. If you are there, join us and the AIIM experts to dive deeper into the move from data to value. We’ll look at the expanding multi-channel environment where knowledge share is essential for survival, If you can’t attend, you will find key takeaways on this blog and across our social channels. A very relevant quote in the context of IDC’s findings from keynote speaker and AIIM President John Mancini: we have more “content/data about content” than ever before, yet most organizations still are not tapping into this enormous potential power.
Update: the AIIM Forum UK 2015 is over – check out our impressions and more.
Closing the loop: beyond the silos towards numbers that will convince your board
On July 1st the loop will be closed in a third webinar covering the ways forward and how to succeed today and in the years ahead as we move towards the 44 trillion gigabytes reality. Integration with business processes, artificial intelligence, mastering the deluge of unstructured data and unlocking the value of all information, beyond the silos: it’s all covered.
