Is ECM as we know it, dead? That’s the theme of this year’s AIIM Forum in the UK (June 24th, London). AIIM (Association for Information and Image Management) will answer that question by bringing its vision for “a new era of information management” for Europe at the event.
Information management is indeed changing, not in the least because of the impact of phenomena such as consumerisation, the cloud, mobile and the Internet of Things in the whole ECM and information management equation as AIIM emphasizes.
We would add another technology to that: artificial intelligence. The power of AI is one of the many things our team, which is at the event again, will be able to show you with intelligent information management solution Kodak Info Insight.
Evolutions in the ECM industry: the challenges and solutions
As we go through significant transitions as an industry but also in business overall, the risk that organisations drown in the information chaos, as AIIM calls it, is real. Instead of drowning in the information chaos, embracing the power of ever more data and information, using the proper smart solutions, seems like a better idea.
It’s a key topic AIIM President John Mancini will focus on at the event in his keynote. Other keynote speakers include Myron Hrycyk, Group CIO at Severn Trent PLC (and one of the CIOs listed in the 2014 CIO 100 as you can “read” on our Storify board about the event), and AIIM’s Doug Miles.
John Mancini shared some interesting findings on ECM evolutions in Europe via his Twitter account, ahead of the event. The primary businesses drives for ECM in Europe, according to John, are 1) costs and productivity, 2) compliance and risk and 3) collaboration. More findings and the statistics also on our Storify board.

Kodak Alaris Information Management and intelligent information at the AIIM Forum UK 2015
Back to that industry in transition. Quoting John from the press release: “There is more content and information than ever before and enterprises are struggling to manage it effectively….ECM is an industry in transition and at the AIIM Forum UK we are going to be exploring how best to approach the transition to a new era of ECM.”
Managing the flood of content and information, mainly unstructured, in fact is where intelligent information management and artificial intelligence come in the picture again. So, what can you expect from us?
The subtitle of our event page says it all: “time to transform your information management processes”, fully in line with the event’s theme. Transforming is key but not because transformation as such has value.
What matters is to review how your information processes and systems can be better leveraged to support and accelerate your business objectives and the essential components to make it all happen: solutions that focus on these objectives, processes and most of all customers and value.
You can read more about what we will cover and show on our AIIM Forum page where you can also book an appointment. Let’s look at all the pieces to move from information to insight and value, from scanners, capture solutions and service to intelligent information management.
